MLA is a popular citation style created by the Modern Language Association and used by researchers in the fine arts and humanities. Citation requirements depend on the type of resource you are citing (books, scholarly journal articles, websites, etc.). The library has prepared a LibGuide about MLA style with links to citation examples for many types of resources.

We also suggest reaching out to the Writing Center for in-depth citation help. This independent office collaborates with the Library, and has locations on both North Campus (Cumnock Hall, across University Ave. from Lydon Library) and South Campus (O’Leary Library – 3rd floor). You can visit the Writing Center website to schedule a session for expert advice on your writing assignments.
