Q. What's happening with the O'Leary office move?

This summer, O’Leary Library is undergoing a major transition to better serve our community. By the start of the Fall 2025 semester, all library operations and services will be consolidated to the third and fourth floors of the building. River Hawk Scholars Academy, among other departments, will be relocated to other floors in O’Leary. The Writing Center and Tutoring will be joining the Centers for Learning on the first floor.

What’s Changing?

  • Library services are relocating to the fourth floor.
The Circulation and Reference Desks, where most walk-up help happens (including research assistance, interlibrary loan, course reserves, and where to check out books) will be available on the fourth floor.

  • Book Love is moving to the fourth floor and the Wunsch Collection will be on the third floor.

  • Library offices and quiet study space will be on the third floor. The Reading Room has at least 4 study rooms available for people to use.

  • River Hawk Scholars is moving to the first floor.
You may see departments relocate into former library areas as part of this reorganization.

  • The Writing Center and Tutoring will join The Centers For Learning on the first floor.

  • The first floor will no longer be a library-managed space.
There may be no library staff present on the first floor after the move. The space will be repurposed by other campus departments.

Timeline

  • Summer 2025: Move and setup in progress. You may notice an increase in noise as we move books and offices. Some staff may be working remotely through this process. If you can’t find someone, please call or email them.

  • Fall 2025: New library layout officially in place. We’ll have a welcome back party with other departments in the building to help you get used to the new spaces.

  • Updates: Shared regularly here and via our Instagram account.

How Will This Affect You?

  • O’Leary library will be open and library services will remain available throughout the summer—just in new locations as we transition. Some staff may be working remotely. Please call or email so you can connect with us.

  • Directional signage, updated maps, and staff assistance will help you navigate the changes this fall.

  • If you visit the first floor in the future, please note that it may no longer provide library support.
